OCTELA conference Mar. 1st, Saturday 2:10-3:00
Donald Graves knew that children want to write and have a story to tell. In today’s digital world, children still have a story to tell but with new tools technology offers, that story can be told in so many different ways and platforms. Explore new ways to grow writers using digital literacy to motivate.
Projection capabilities allow us to look at actual student work. GREAT for modeling and “celebrating” what our students are doing well. Also great for those “teachable moments”! Using a camera on a device allows us to share work quickly for commenting and collaboration.
Give online assignments with Edmodo and use great tools like the “Rank and Reason” app!
And another creative way to get kids writing about the apps they use is to have them evaluate! Here’s the tool we use in our classroom: App evaluator
