  1. I really liked how candid she was with her students and let them know that she didn’t really know how to unpack nonfiction and that it takes more effort and work than fiction. She talks about examining basic structures and using graphic organizers to make it visual for her learners. She talks about the developmental demands but also spends time on the democratic requirements which was the meat of her talk. She challenged me to let my students struggle and build them into critical thinkers which is hard to do with all the in the moment media fact showers. She challenged me to be a warrior for my students by providing them with the support but also to push them to reach independent thinking and be a challenger of literature.
